IATA has published its analysis of the global air freight market, the results within suggest a market in recovery, one that is matching manufacturing levels; a sector to which it is inextricably bound. However, historical precedent would suggest that we should expect a far stronger recovery at roughly double the rate of growth in manufacturing. The difference between this recovery, and those before it, is the trend for nearshoring, which is reducing demand for global air freight in spite of increasing levels of manufacturing.
