What will it contain?

Recession Watch will have the up to date information you need to understand how the industry is being impacted by current market conditions - and support your strategic decision making. The monthly report has 5 key components:
- Monthly Confidence Index
- Vertical Sector Developments
- Special Focus
- Major Logistics/Express Developments
- Monthly / Quarterly Indices
Monthly Confidence Index
Ti’s Confidence Index summarises the results of our monthly survey of over 500 respondents. The survey will establish the level of confidence in a number of geographical regions, vertical sectors and segments of the logistics market. The survey assesses the level of confidence - today, in three months time and in twelve months.
The Index provides data on a global level, as well as regionally and by some specific key markets (such as the UK, China, India and the US).
The Confidence Index will assist you to identify the sectors/regions that are currently fairing better—and those that are believed to improve in the future.
Vertical Sector Developments
Developments directly related to the global economic downturn will be investigated—allowing you to identify both ‘heroes’ and ‘villains’ in the current climate. While certain sectors, such as automotive, are well documented during a downturn, positive news is less forthcoming. Ti will not just focus on negative developments, we will also investigate sectors and companies operating successfully, and which present continued opportunities.
Special Focus
Each month a vertical sector will be examined in greater detail. Recessionary based developments will be analysed to assess their direct impact on the global logistics market. The knock on effect of these developments on specific providers will also be analysed to give you an insight into the likely future position of key competitors.
Monthly / Quarterly Indices
In addition to Ti’s proprietary Monthly Confidence Index, ‘Recession Watch’ also compiles a range of indices from external experts to assist you in assessing the current and future state of the global logistics market. These indices are published either on a monthly or quarterly basis and include:
- Air Freight—Monthly air cargo statistics.
- Ports—Monthly TEU throughput at a sample of major ports.
- US Trucking—Monthly FTL and LTL revenue and volume statistics.
- Semi-conductor—Monthly sales figures.
- European Automotive—Monthly registration figures.
- Computer—Quarterly shipments.
Major Logistics/Express Developments
Each month, Ti will investigate the leading 3PLs globally to establish what actions are being taken to combat the global downturn. The research will provide an insight into various developments, such as:
- Job losses, salary reductions, employment freezes, etc.
- Warehouse / DC closures, contract losses
- Withdrawals from regions / markets
- Financial performances
The analysis of the main, recession based, developments will allow you to identify the strategies adopted by the major logistics operators and help you to determine what action is needed in your own business
